Low on energy? Especially on crazy days, the last thing you want to deal with is feeling sluggish. But you’re not alone.

You may have a nutrient gap

Busy adults often don’t get all the necessary nutrients from their diets, such as B vitamins.

Did you know that when people don’t get the needed levels of B vitamins from the foods they eat, fatigue can set in? Especially for those on restricted diets like vegetarians or calorie-restricted diets, it can be difficult to get the right combination and amount of B vitamins from diet alone.

Facts about B vitamins

  • There are eight essential B vitamins
  • Vitamin B is not typically found in plants at very high levels
  • B vitamins are water-soluble nutrients that aren’t stored in the body long term and must be replenished daily

Be proactive about nutrition

“To be at your best from the beginning of the day to the end, the time to block fatigue is before it begins,” said Kevin Gellenbeck, Ph.D., a senior principal research scientist at Amway.

“A great way to support your natural energy needs is to make sure you’re eating a healthy breakfast and that your body is getting a steady supply of all the essential B vitamins throughout the day.”

A vitamin B supplement can deliver essential B vitamins your body needs to unlock energy from food and to help fight fatigue before it begins.

Why slow release matters when taking B vitamins

When it comes to B vitamins, consider supplements that provide a steady release of nutrients over a period of time. This allows for more efficient absorption of many B vitamins and limits the waste that happens when large doses are taken at one time.

Bonus: This technique is also gentler on the stomach!

An easy way to get all 8 essential B vitamins

A bi-layer tablet packed with all eight essential B vitamins, the Nutrilite® Vitamin B Dual-Action supplement combines instant and extended release technologies that allow for efficient absorption of all nutrients. Instant release of two B vitamins, along with slow, gentle release of the other six, optimizes absorption of all eight B vitamins.

Fight fatigue with vitamin B

So for those crazy days, don’t fight to stay productive. With the right foods and some planning, you can help ensure a consistent level of beneficial B vitamins throughout your day!

Why is vitamin D so important?

Vitamin D enables normal mineralization of your bones, supports normal function of the cardiovascular system and contributes to the normal function of the immune system. †

Reports actually suggest that over half of the world’s population suffers from a deficiency of vitamin D.

“The prevalence of vitamin D deficiency in the general population is significant in many regions of the globe,” says Alli Klosner, a clinical research scientist for Nutrilite. “Very few foods in nature contain vitamin D, and most of us don’t get enough sunlight to provide us with the vitamin D our bodies need.”

Sources of vitamin D

Sunshine generates vitamin D in your skin. The National Institutes of Health recommends 5 to 30 minutes of sun between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. at least twice a week on the face, arms, legs, or back without sunscreen.

But that’s just a rough estimate, since it doesn’t take into account cloud cover, shade, pollution or sunscreen use, all of which block the UVB rays from the sun that start the process of vitamin D synthesis in the skin.

Milk contains about 100 IU vitamin D per 8-ounce glass — clearly not enough to realistically achieve the optimal supplement level of 2,000 IU/day. Of commonly consumed foods, the highest in vitamin D is oily fish like salmon, which provides about 100 IU vitamin D per ounce.

For people with dark pigmented skin, greater amounts of melanin in the epidermal layer reduce the skin’s ability to produce vitamin D from sunlight.

Now for some good news

Using one of the best botanical sources of vitamin D on earth, Nutrilite™ scientists created Nutrilite™ Vitamin D. It’s packed with enough vitamin D to guard against dietary insufficiency and support bone health, cardiovascular health and your immune system.†

Taking supplemental vitamin D is an easy way to ensure that you’re getting the optimal amount, 2,000 IU/day, without increasing your risk of skin cancer or skin aging from excessive sun exposure.

Now you can put the power of the sun in the palm of your hand. Want to learn more about Nutrilite Vitamin D? Visit my Online shop

When spring brings warmer temperatures our way, it’s a great time to start heading back outdoors for some much-needed fresh air! And while getting out and about can do wonders for our mindset, it can also take its toll on our immune systems.

When we expose our bodies to the elements and other people, what can we do to support our immune systems? Vitamin C is a natural choice to support our immune systems  — and a vitamin C supplement with added ascorbic acid helps ensure you’re getting enough.

What is ascorbic acid?

Ascorbic acid is the chemical name from vitamin C. In fact, the ascorbic acid that is used in supplements, and the vitamin C found in food, are chemically identical. It was first made in a lab in the 1930s.

Why use ascorbic acid?

The Nutrilite brand is committed to using the best of nature, combined with the best of science, to create our nutritional supplements. By doing so, we deliver powerful vitamins and minerals in the right amounts. When developing our Vitamin C Extended Release supplement, Nutrilite scientists wanted to ensure that capsule sizes would be easy for most people to swallow. They concluded that the most effective way to pack 500 milligrams of vitamin C each capsule would be to use a combination of vitamin C from acerola cherries — grown on our own organic farm in Brazil— and ascorbic acid derived from glucose.

Did you know?

The extended release formula in Nutrilite Vitamin C provides a slow, steady release of vitamin C over 8 hours. So it’s convenient, gentle on your stomach, and minimizes waste by helping your body use it more effectively.

Support your immunity with supplements you can trust

When you can’t eat enough vitamin C from fresh fruits and vegetables, dietary supplements can help fill the gap and support your immune system year-round! Get your Nutrilite Vitamin C Extended Release today!

Between hand washing, social distancing and wiping down surfaces to remove germs, you’ve probably heard plenty lately about how to protect the outside of your body to stay healthy.

But what about the inside of your body? The immune system is our body’s unsung hero. Loading up on vitamin C is one common way to support immunity, but there is so much more we can do to support our body’s defenses every day.

Keep reading for seven little-known and simple ways to support your immune system.

1. Replenish your sunshine vitamin

Vitamin D, otherwise known as the sunshine vitamin, not only supports strong bones and heart health but also helps support our immune system.

One of the most popular ways to obtain it is through exposure to the sun. Although most of us are staying home to stay safe these days, you can still find a way to soak up some rays.

Join your cat in the sunbeam or simply step out on your porch, yard or sidewalk for a daily dose of nature’s vitamin D. (Just don’t forget your sunscreen!)

You can also look at dietary sources of vitamin D, including fish, mushrooms and egg yolks. And you can help fill any gaps in your diet (or time in the sun) with a vitamin D supplement.

2. Move your body

Exercise is important for your immune system because it helps flush out toxins from your body. And staying at home and out of your favorite gym doesn’t have to stop you.

You don’t need much space to get your body moving. You can try practicing yoga, exercising with a friend through video chat or following along with a YouTube® video.

Several businesses and organizations are putting exercise routines online with modifications for working out at home. (Follow #NoExcuseswithXS on social media for some tips!) Commit to doing some sort of physical activity every day. #NoExcuses

3. Eat the rainbow

Snacking at home is so easy to do, and the fruit and vegetables that might be in our refrigerator are not tops on the list of things to reach for. But eating right is one thing that supports a healthy immune system.

Make sure you’re eating as many colorful fruits and vegetables you can get your hands on. Keep them front and center in the refrigerator or on the counter for grab-and-go convenience. Antioxidant-packed blueberries, citrus fruits rich in vitamin C, copper- and iron-filled spinach, and garlic all have immune system benefits.

If you’re not confident you’re getting enough nutrients from your diet, try a multivitamin with plant nutrients to help fill any gaps.

4. Find your Zen

What’s going on in our mind can impact what’s going on in our bodies. Many of us experience stress on a daily basis, especially now while we’re trying to juggle many different priorities at home and take extra care of our health and the health of our loved ones.

Stress can suppress the power of our immune systems, so finding ways to cope is extremely important. Self-care is key. Try taking a bath, lighting your favorite candle, watching something that makes you laugh, meditating, or journaling to manage your stress levels

5. B energized

Sleep is essential and not getting enough of it can weaken our body’s defenses. If you are getting enough quality sleep but you still feel tired, you might consider upping your vitamin B intake.

Vitamin B helps your body convert food to energy. You can and should get vitamin B from the foods you eat, like whole grains, dairy, meat, beans and many fruits and vegetables. Those are all part of a healthy diet, so if you are eating right, you are getting some vitamin B.

6. Pay attention to your teeth

Many people don’t know that oral health and overall health go hand in hand. It’s important to have consistent and thorough habits when it comes to your oral health, including brushing twice daily for two full minutes and, yes, flossing.

It may be a challenge to keep to your oral hygiene routine when schedules and calendars don’t seem to matter anymore, but you can do it!

7. Get a healthy gut

A whopping 70% of your immune system can be found in your gut, so supporting your gut health is of utmost importance when it comes to achieving optimal health.

Your gut is made up of both “good” and “bad” bacteria and probiotics are the ultimate good guys who send the bad guys packing.

Probiotic foods that replenish the good bacteria in your gut include yogurt, pickles, kefir, and sauerkraut. If these aren’t at the top of your list, a good alternative is a daily probiotic supplement.

Power up

There, now you’re equipped with seven new ways to support your immune system. These tips are good any time of year, but they are extra important now. With the right nutrients and healthy habits, you can help support your body’s defenses.

The summer months equal more activity. From family gatherings, beach days, outdoor fun and more, the last thing we want is for our bodies to slow down. So what can we do to support our immune systems? Add more phytonutrients to our diet!

What are phytonutrients and why are they important?

Phytonutrients are naturally occurring compounds found in the plants we eat. They play many roles in plants, but in general they function as a defense mechanism to help plants survive and reproduce.

For humans, a diet rich in phytonutrients also have a number of defense and protective mechanisms – which helps make us more resilient to the kinds of stresses we encounter in day-to-day life.

“That’s why we think diets rich in plant foods provide people with a high degree of health throughout life,” said Dr. Keith Randolph, nutrition technology strategist at the Nutrilite Health Institute.

How can we make sure we get the phytonutrients we need?

We need to consume at least five to nine servings of fruits and vegetables per day to get the recommended intake of phytonutrients that the World Health Organization recommends – which can be a challenging thing to do.

Try adding peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms or onions to your eggs for a delicious omelet or grab an apple, peach, banana, or orange and enjoy it on your way to work. You might also consider stirring extra veggies into your soup, or choosing a day that is convenient to replace meat with all plant foods in your main meals.

What about supplements?

To fill nutrient gaps, choose a supplement product that includes a variety of plant concentrates or phytonutrients from organically grown plants.

“That’s how Nutrilite can help,” Randolph said. “Our products are not meant to replace healthy choices in the diet, they are meant to supplement those choices to help people achieve their health goals by increasing their body’s phytonutrient intake.”

Our recommendations?

For kids, try Nutrilite™ Kids Chewable Concentrated Fruits and Vegetables. Two tablets a day provides kids with phytonutrients equal to 5+ servings of fruits and vegetables.

For adults, try Nutrilite™ Concentrated Fruits and Vegetables. Two tablets a day provides adults with phytonutrients equal to 10+ servings of fruits and vegetables.

And don’t forget Nutrilite™ Double X Vitamin/Mineral/Phytonutrient supplement. Two servings a day provides 12 essential vitamins, 10 essential minerals and 22 plant concentrates, including every color on the phytonutrient spectrum.
